We here at Gracillius Odditorium are death positive and the designs feature skulls and coffins and other symbols of death. As death is part of life, acknowledging death is a celebration of life.

What does Gracillius Mean?

I grew up with greyhounds and loving greyhounds was a significant part of my personality for a long time. Though I don't have greyhounds anymore, I have such a soft spot for the 40mph couch potatoes. I also studied linguistics and enjoy tracing words' etymologies.

When I was choosing a name for my business, I wanted to pay homage to greyhounds, so I looked up the etymology of greyhound. Greyhounds are a very old breed and there is no definitive answer but one source I found posited that it could be from gracillius meaning "slender" in Greek. I really liked the sound of it and the uniqueness of it.

Pronunciation is: GRUH - Silly - Us
